My earliest memory of Thunderbirds was during the re-runs in the early nineties – I must have been three years old – and the sound of Thunderbird 3 taking off scared me so much that I hid behind the sofa and refused to watch. Fast forward to the late nineties and the re-runs were back! This time I was old enough to appreciate what I had missed the first time round and I was spell-bound. At this point internet was a novelty that I rarely came into contact with so I had no idea what fanfiction was. However, I clearly remember watching Cry Wolf and later on postulating what would have happened if the mine had come down whilst Alan and Virgil were still down there. My grand entrance into the realm of fanfiction had begun! For two years every spare moment was taken up with day-dreaming out new stories and rescues – initially building off of the episodes and then branching out to original stories with the boys. Together with my best friend a whole world was created that continued on from where the series left off – including various character's children and eventual cross-overs with Captain Scarlet. No doubt these stories will never be written down, but they were one of the most magical things of my teenage years and I still cherish them. Of course, it didn't take many years for me to find out that I wasn't unique and that other people were doing exactly the same thing as me, but with one major difference: they were writing their stories down and sharing them. Unheard of! My first TB fanfic to be posted was Standing By My Brothers and from there I can't make myself stop. I love to make my stories as realistic as possible – which means I don't shy away from gory or upsetting details when needs be, but I also try to inject a healthy dose of humour when it won't detract from the plot. I also ramble in authors notes. A lot.
