Actually, I have
never seen the TV-Show. Thunderbirds was brought
to my attention because I read the story ‘Hunter, Prey'
– it had me intrigued, so I looked for more. Without
knowing anything about the vehicles or the Tracys, I
started reading, and, well, fell in love. I guess it was
the idea behind the whole thing, the interactions of the
brothers, the 'never give up at all costs', and
of course the wonderful fanfictions out there.
I'm German, and I guess
Thunderbirds have never been a big deal over here,
especially since I was born in the eighties. I grew up with
Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, Heidi and Pippi Langstrumpf, but
that's not something you can write stories about.
When I really like
something, my fingers itch to write. You can't, I told
myself, you don't know anything about the show, you don't
know the facts...and whilst I was thinking that, my
fingers flew over the keyboard and typed the first chapter of
'Numb'.
Well. It took some time
to convince myself that it was worth it, but I finally sent it
to Quiller, knowing that I would need beta help (there are
some grammar things that simply won't stay in my head;
if-sentences, for example, my mortal enemy). She liked the
story, to my utmost surprise, and when I finally posted it,
people liked it as well. I was flattered.
And my fingers are still
itching.
We'll see where that
leads me. I've got plenty ideas, but not much time to write
(university keeps me on my toes). And who knows, if I ever
have money (a rare event), I might buy some DVDs.
