My parents don't like the
Thunderbirds. They laugh when I mention them. I didn't live
through the original Gerry Anderson phase in the sixties, and
I was too young for the Anderson renaissance in the early
nineties. So how did I come to love the Thunderbirds?
My kidney did it.
Yup, it's all my kidney's
fault. I take no responsibility for it at all.
See, I was breezing through
life, having a grand old time, dating various guys, going to
work, learning massage, and generally having a ball. And then
I got that kidney infection.
So there I was. Stuck at home
for a week, too ill to go out and do anything, too restless to
read any of my books, too dizzy to sit at my computer and
waste time. What's a girl to do? I turned on the TV.
Big mistake. Huge mistake.
Because I saw an ad for a movie. A sci-fi movie, featuring big
rockets and cool gadgets and very cute guys. Okay,
okay, so it was the live action movie. But I'd never heard of
Thunderbirds before, so did I know any better? Hell no. And I
liked it. I still do. The machines mesmerised me, and the
rescue sequence at the beginning? That is so very awesome. I
could do without the kids, but hey, every movie has its flaws,
right?
Within a week, I owned every
Thunderbirds episode on DVD. And the two original movies, and
the live action movie. I watched them all, over and over
again. And when I ran out of those, I went looking for
fanfiction.
Luckily, I was no newbie to
fanfic. I knew where to look, who to ask, what to look for.
Didn't take me long to go through every good piece of fiction
I could find. Including most of this site. I've probably read
every story on here, multiple times. Each new adventure has
only added to my obsession, and knowing that there are others
out there who feel the way I do has encouraged me to write my
own contributions to the fandom.
So here they are, my own little
pieces of Planet Tracy. I hope you enjoy reading them as much
as I enjoyed writing them and Eru willing, there will be
plenty more to come. Hopefully, as well, there will be a good
long span of years spent gazing lovingly at my pictures of the
boys, obsessing over them with other like-minded people, and
sharing the Tracy love.
