My big brother got
me hooked on Thunderbirds in the early seventies.
We watched it together (it made a change from fighting)
and I soon became captivated by the characters and
gadgets. Even then, at the tender age of five, I think I
knew that there would always be space in my heart for
the cool-headed, hunky pilot of Thunderbird 2.
I can't remember when I
first started writing Thunderbirds stories. In my
teens, I suppose. I wrote other fiction over the years but I
kept coming back to International Rescue even though I felt,
quite frankly, a bit silly writing about a bunch of puppets
from the Sixties and pretending they were real people. I told
no-one. It was my dreadful secret.
So, you can imagine my
relief when I discovered Tracy Island Chronicles. So I wasn't
mad after all or, if I was, I was in damn good company!
This discovery was a
double-edged sword. I felt I could now be truly indulgent and
lose myself in welcoming back the many years worth of
Thunderbirds fiction that had decided to reappear in my
head. At the same time, I knew I had to find the time to get
it out of my head and onto the computer.
So that’s where you find
me today. Oh, and by the way, I am a firm believer in being
non-controversial in my stories. I have views on datelines,
birth order and the like but you won’t find me addressing
those issues here.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy
reading the stories below as much as I enjoyed writing them.
And if not? Well, no matter. TIC, like the Tracy brothers
themselves, is so full of different personalities that you’re
bound to find one you like.
