The majority of
little girls have plastic tea sets and disproportioned
blonde dolls to play with. However, I was no ordinary
little girl. I thought plastic tea sets and
disproportioned blonde dolls were...well, quite frankly,
stupid. No, my interests were firmly rooted with
something much more interesting, much more important and
much more intelligent ... International Rescue. So, you
can imagine my glee when my little brother's sixth
birthday present was a Blue Peter style Tracy Island,
complete with a painted matchbox villa and fold down
pipe cleaners disguised as palm trees. My life was
complete. I spent the next God knows how many years
arguing that little brothers should share everything
with their big sisters.
Several years later,
what's changed? Well, I still argue with my not-so-little
brother, I still have no desire to own a plastic tea set and
I'm still fascinated, not only with the concept of
International Rescue, but also the intricate dynamics of the
family behind it. The only difference is that the stories I
made up in my head are now littering my hard drive.
