I was seven years old when Thunderbirds was first launched on our screens in 1965, and even today, watching an episode makes me feel about 10 years old again on the inside.
I'd been making up
stories in my own head for some time before a friend introduced me to fanfiction and I was delighted to find that there were others who felt like me; I might be mad, but at least I was in good company!
Since I first ventured into the realms of fanfiction over ten years ago, my real life has undergone a complete makeover. In 2011 I decided to walk away from my old life, giving up my job and selling my home to travel around the world and do some of the things on my 'bucket list.' In addition to travelling down the Grand Canyon on a mule, working in a koala sanctuary, getting dressed in a kimono and riding on an elephant, I also managed to meet some of the 'virtual' friends I had come to know through the Tracy Island Writers Forum.
Following my return I have turned the blog I wrote on my travels into a series of books and and am now proud to announce that these are available on Amazon. In 'Travels with a Penguin' you can follow my adventures as I journey across the USA then on to New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Sri Lanka - accompanied by a small stuffed penguin called Scott-of-the Antarctic.
The publication of these book is the realisation of yet another dream. Little did I know, when I first sat down to write about the Tracy boys all those years ago, that it would lead to my becoming a 'proper' author!
